Dining Room Chandelier Height

If you have an 8’ ceiling you should hang the chandelier so that the bottom of the chandelier is between 30” to 36” from the tabletop. Some designers will recommend for each additional foot of ceiling height you should add 3” to the suspension height. Other designers say that ceiling height shouldn’t affect the distance of the fixture from the tabletop, it’s important to note that not everyone agrees with this. You need to did what feel right to you, the best way to find out is to hang the chandelier at both heights and choose which height you like. The size and style of your chandelier will affect the height from which you should hang it. If you have an elaborate chandelier that takes up a lot of visual space you need to hang it a couple of inches higher than standard height. Again look at the different heights before committing to a certain height.
